The Kinsale and Cobh Day Tour

Does your cruise ship stop in Cobh? Perhaps you have been thinking of taking a tour of local sights, but cannot bear the thought of a standard bus trip? Hand in Hand Tours have the answer: We arrange private tours designed around your timetable and preferences, so you can enjoy the beauty of the Cork area in relaxed comfort.

Kinsale: Historic Fortress

Designed by William Robinson, who also designed the Royal Hospital Kilmainham in Dublin, Charles Fort is an impressive star-shaped fort built in the late 1600s. The fort was one of Ireland’s biggest military fortifications and featured in some of the country’s most important historic events.

These include the Williamite War of 1689 to 1691 and the Civil War of 1922 and 1923. Learn about its history on a fascinating guided tour.

Kinsale’s other Attractions

One of Kinsale’s lesser-known attractions is the Kinsale Garden of Remembrance, which was created by Kinsale woman Kathleen Cait Murphy, after she had spent more than 30 years working in New York City. Her memorial garden at Ringfinnan, Kinsale, pays tribute to the heroic firemen of 9/11 with 344 trees—a tree for each of the firemen who died, as well as one for their chaplain, Father Michael Judge.

After you have viewed the attractions of Kinsale, make room for a delicious lunch. After all, Kinsale is not known as the gourmet capital of Ireland for nothing! Take time afterward to browse the shops, craft centres, and galleries of Kinsale and enjoy the hustle and bustle of this charming port town.

We will return you to your cruise ship in Cobh in plenty of time for your departure.
